As the year closes, please take a moment and ask: what does The Daily Texan mean to you?
Perhaps:
- It’s where you wrote that terrific story that you still think about on occasion.
- It’s where you learned to work together as a team.
- It was your personal launching pad into journalism.
- It gave you the communication skills and other knowledge to purse another type career.
- It taught you to ask questions with expertise and authority, and never shirk from those in power.
- It’s where you met your spouse, or a new college roommate.
- It’s where you learned about the sanctity and critical role of a free press.
As 2019 ends, The Friends of The Texan, Inc., a non-profit group that supports The Texan with financial assistance and other means, is opening a way to give thanks and support to The Texan in its challenging role to succeed as the media landscape continues to change rapidly.
Thanks to management of The Texan and Texas Student Media, The Texan and TSM are in much better shape than a few years ago. Not too many media outlets can make that statement. Your support today builds up reserves for unanticipated expenses tomorrow.
Please consider making a donation of any amount – $10, $ 100 or $1,000, whatever is comfortable – to support The Texan’s efforts in the year ahead.
Every dollar received goes to support The Texan. You may designate it for scholarship fund, camera and video equipment, archive digitization project, travel and coverage needs or other uses.
Your donation will be recognized on the Friends of The Texan website, with whatever message you’d like to offer.
