Dallas Morning News, Austin American-Statesman, noted attorney sponsor Hall of Fame dinner

Two of the state’s premier media organizations and one of Texas’ best known and most successful attorneys are sponsors of the Friends of The Daily Texan, Inc. Hall of Fame dinner Friday night, Nov. 8.

The list of sponsors includes: A.H. Belo Corporation and The Dallas Morning News, the Austin American-Statesman and Hartley Hampton, P.C., a respected Houston law firm owned by UT and Daily Texan-ex Hartley Hampton.

“We are greatly appreciative of the support from these organizations to the Friends of The Daily Texan, in our group’s effort to assist The Texan as it works to build a long-term business model in an increasingly complex digital world,” said Cliff Avery, president of the alumni group.

“A special thank you to Hartley Hampton for his sponsorship; although he no longer works directly in the journalism field, he retains a strong sense of belonging to The Daily Texan, and a desire to assist.”

Avery added: “The support and involvement of The Statesman and The Morning News, journalistic leaders for many decades in Texas, is appreciated not just for the material support, but for the overall support of the Friends’ group efforts.”

Both The Morning News and the Statesman have employed numerous Daily Texan/UT graduates through the decades and been supportive of quality education for young journalists overall.

Hampton has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America and Texas’ Best Lawyers. Texas Monthly has honored him as a Super Lawyer every year since the award was created. He is board certified in personal injury litigation by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and in civil litigation by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.
