S. Griffin Singer, respected Texas journalist and beloved former UT journalism professor, has been honored with an annual scholarship to be awarded in his name to a staff member of The Daily Texan. The $2,000 annual grant will come from Friends of The Daily Texan, Inc., a non-profit established in 2013 to provide support for The Daily Texan and its staff. Read more →After Covid-forced postponements the past two years, the Friends of The Daily Texan group is moving forward with plans for a highly-anticipated annual dinner on Friday, April 8 this year at The Texas Union building. Online registration for the event will begin in early February, with sign up info going out via social media and other contact methods. Read more →The ongoing Friends of The Daily Texan fund-drive has reached $31,460, all to be used for Texan scholarships, project needs and other items to support the student newspaper at The University of Texas at Austin. The recent fund drive focused on raising donations to replace revenue lost by cancellation of the Friends’ group 2020 annual dinner due to the pandemic.
