New Editors Selected for Daily Texan

Liza Anderson has been elected Editor-in-Chief of The Daily Texan for the 2018-
2019 school year.
In addition, Catherine Marfin has been elected Managing Editor for the Summer
term, and Ellie Breed for the Fall term.
Editors-in-Chief and Managing Editors serve during their terms as voting members
of the Friends of The Daily Texan, Inc. Board of Directors.
Liza Anderson, 2018-2019 Editor-in-Chief, is a Plan II and history junior from
Houston. She has worked at The Daily Texan since her first semester at UT, and in
that time, she has held six positions across the design and opinion departments.
Anderson hopes to use her time in office to focus on producing investigative
editorials, strengthening arguments in the opinion department, and creating a
structure for reliable recruitment. When she’s not in the Texan basement, she can
be found at a coffee shop reading a historical biography.
Catherine Marfin, Managing Editor, Summer 2018, is a journalism and public
relations junior from San Antonio, Texas. She originally planned to forge a career
in education, but luckily, her high school English teacher helped steer her down a
path of reporting. Catherine found herself in the news department of The Daily
Texan during her first week of class at UT, and she hasn’t left since. She has
worked in the news department as a senior reporter, news desk editor and most
recently, news editor. This summer will be her ninth semester working at the
Texan. Catherine also has experience interning as a reporter at the Austin-
American Statesman and as a public information specialist at the Austin-
Bergstrom International Airport. Outside of the Texan basement, you can find
Catherine playing piccolo in the Longhorn Marching Band.
Ellie Breed will be Managing Editor in the Fall, a position she held in the Spring at
The Texan. She is from Austin and previously served as News Desk Editor at The Texan.
